Fast moving and well-written. And, btw, at least one of the reviewers mentioned that there were a lot of “profanities” in this book. Not so at all. A small amount of swearing—hardly noticeable—but only where one might expect such an expletive in real life. Also, I was very appreciative of the detailed gathering of loose ends toward the last, leaving no questions unanswered. Those nitty-gritty details, if left unresolved, bug the heck out of me in SO many books nowadays. Most enjoyable and exciting read. Ordered it this afternoon and just finished it tonight (approximately 10:30). Top notch — and, yes, the $15 is worth it. ;)

Texas Ranger edition by James Patterson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I had it figured out and then the author changed it at the end. I could not put the book down and was surprised at the end.
Highly disappointed! This book read like a teenager mesmerized by a Texas Ranger wrote the book! Hollywood hype of what a Ranger can do. Rory walked towards the crime scene and a uniform police officer attempts to stop him and Rory grasp the officer by the wrist and he withers to the floor! What? Like a silly episode of Walker Texas Ranger walking around assaulting people with no consequences is so unrealistic in real Law Enforcement duties ! Just amateur and silly book !
I have read early Patterson books and thought them ok, not great just ok. This Texas Ranger is by far the worst I’ve ever read. People should be given their money back if they bought this book.
Rory Yates should never have been appointed a Texas Ranger. He's too volatile, emotional, and allows his personal demons to control his decision making process. Not sure why the authors depicted this Texas Ranger as an emotional wreck. I get the fact that Rangers are human and have feelings but the depiction of this character in the manner in which he attempts to involve himself with the case is beyond the norm. In a sequence described in the book the author allows the character to consider breaking into a house to obtain evidence only to be called away to another crime scene. In the second crime scene the character barges into a crime scene only to be overcome by emotion and he has to be subdued by other officers. Don't know why I keep reading? Maybe I'm hoping that the authors come to their collective senses and allow the character to evolve into a law enforcement officer who is capable of separating his personal emotional side and his crime detecting abilities.
I was looking forward to reading this book because i’m A big James Patterson fan. I must say the quality of his work since he has started using co-authors has gone downhill. I saw very little evidence of his style in this book. It seemed too short to develop all the different aspects of the book. I don’t think Texas and the Rangers could be very happy with this book. I’m thinking about ordering your new book; but I notice there’s the same co-author. I don’t put all the blame on her. If this isn’t better, I will think twice; maybe three or four times; about spending the amount of money your publishers insist on charging for your books.
I'm confused as to why anyone would rate this book lower than 4 stars. I've not always been a fan of Patterson's, finding some of his novels a bit too formulaic for me, but I loved this book. I became very empathetic with both main male characters, and though I had an inkling early on who the "bad guy" was, I still felt the journey to be intense and interesting. Neither man was perfect, but their flaws only made them easier to identify with on an emotional level. A 5-star rating is VERY rare for me, but I felt this one deserved it. Well worth the time to read!
Texas Ranger has got to be one of the very best James Patterson books that I have read in many years. I really like reading his books, especially his Women's Murder Club series and his Private series. I just couldn't put it down. Being in a law enforcement family, it was so interesting and seemed to be so real.
I liked the storyline; it wasn't anything you really couldn't believe happening. He kept me wondering who-dun-it until about 1/2 way through but I still wanted to finish it to see how all the characters would end up.
I was not disappointed at all! I highly recommend this book to all who love mysteries, murder and in the middle of all of it; the love of your family and friends.
I sincerely hope that he writes another story along this line.
